End impunity Statement on ICC’s prosecutor visit to Sudan

Inspired by international principles, values and norms concerning human rights and justice for unarmed civilian victims of conflict and war, by dictatorial governments, the IDEA of the International Criminal Court came to put an end to these violations and end impunity.

The organization praises the visit of ICC Prosecutor General Fatou Bensouda and her delegation for the first time to Sudan, after the former regime refused to allow the court to hand over its wanted persons to achieve justice who committed the kinds of violations against humanity.

During a meeting with the Organization to End Impunity and a number of civil society organizations in Khartoum with the Attorney General, we confirm the following:

  1. We insist on the need to hand over those wanted by the INTERNATIONAL Criminal Court without any condition.
  2. The ICC is the only competent body for crimes committed in Darfur because there are no provisions in Sudanese law that prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes at the same time.
  3. Asking the transitional government to facilitate the functions of the members of the court to reach victims and witnesses to achieve justice.
